Ukraine: IT society in Law

With a little delay following the Presidential Decree about “About the Priority Tasks as for the Up-to-Date Information Technologies Implementation” in October last year, on 16, March, the Supreme Counsel did pass the law “About confirmation of the fundamentals for IT society development in Ukraine in 2006 – 2015”.

According to Counsel Information agency, the main fundamentals’ are to provide the conditions and directions, which should become the conceptual basis to develop the actions plan of IT society development in Ukraine. The main strategic goals are: acceleration of ICT implementation in all social life spheres, providing the computer literacy of citizens, etc. The law grants, the state IT progress policy will be based on priority to scientific-technical and innovative development of the country and all-round development of information infrastructure, accessible to public, as well.

The first step after the decree is made, and we hope, that the further one won’t keep waiting.
