Microsoft CEO visits Ukraine

Kiev, Ukraine – May 26, 2008 – Last week Steve Ballmer, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Corporation, visited Ukraine. The visit was a part of a week’s tour over Central and Eastern Europe, which also included Hungary, Slovakia, Czechia and Russia.

The visit agenda of the head of Microsoft was really rich: Mr. Ballmer conducted several top-level meetings, signed the Memorandum of mutual understanding with Ukrainian Government in compliance with “Education Partnership program”, and attended the official opening of the first Microsoft Innovation Center in Ukraine.

Steve Ballmer also placed emphasis on Ukrainian education sphere. During his visit to National Shevchenko University of Kiev he delivered a speech to students and teachers. The speech was broadcasted online, so that the students of other higher educational institutions could obtain the full information on the event.

The visit ends into several meetings with key partners, clients and employees of “Microsoft Ukraine” and the grand opening of a new office of the company.

The visit of Steve Ballmer testified Microsoft Corporation interest for Ukraine as one of the regions with the most dynamic growth rate in economics and IT industry. “Microsoft Corporation is aimed at supporting Ukraine on its way to knowledge economics, assisting the Government, businesses and society to use the potential of information technologies for stable economic growth” – Mr. Ballmer said.
